This Privacy Policy applies across all personal products, services, and income activities offered under this name, including mobile applications, published books and ebooks, this website/blog, e-commerce, and any other current or future independent professional or side activities (consulting, digital content, courses, speaking, affiliate or sponsored content, and similar). Section 6 covers anything not specifically listed elsewhere.

1. Independence From My Clinical Employer

All activities covered by this policy are personal, independent ventures conducted on my own time and initiative. They are not conducted on behalf of, endorsed by, or affiliated with any hospital, health system, or clinical employer I am or have been associated with (including UPMC or any other covered entity).

None of these products or services use, reference, incorporate, or are derived from patient information, protected health information (PHI), or any data from my clinical practice or employer's systems. No employer resources, systems, or data are used in creating, operating, or maintaining any app, book, blog, or other offering described in this policy.

Any views, educational content, or recommendations expressed through these products are my own and do not represent the views or positions of any employer. This policy governs only the personal activities described below; it does not apply to, modify, or supersede any privacy, HIPAA, or confidentiality policy governing my clinical employment, which remains entirely separate and controlled by that employer.

2. Mobile Applications

This section applies to apps including Your BP Tracker and any other apps published under this developer account.

What we collect: Nothing. These apps do not collect, transmit, store remotely, sell, or share any personal data, health data, or usage data. All information you enter into the app — including any readings, notes, or settings — is stored exclusively on your own device and never leaves it. No patient data, clinical records, or employer systems are involved in any way (see Section 1).

Where an app includes optional local notifications (e.g., reminders), these are scheduled entirely on-device using Apple's notification system and involve no server or third party.

These apps contain no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and no user accounts.

If a future app or app update includes a paid download or in-app purchase, that payment is collected and processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive, see, or store your payment information — Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.

If you delete an app, all data associated with it is permanently removed from your device.

If a future app under this developer account does collect data (for example, if a future version adds optional cloud sync), this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the update will be reflected here with a new "Last Updated" date.

3. Published Books and Ebooks

Books and ebooks (including titles distributed via Kindle Direct Publishing/Amazon and similar platforms) are sold through third-party retailers. Those retailers — not us — collect and process any information related to your purchase (payment details, shipping address for physical copies, account information, etc.), governed by that retailer's own privacy policy (for example, Amazon's Privacy Notice). We do not receive or have access to individual customer purchase data from these platforms beyond aggregate, anonymized sales figures.

4. This Website / Blog

This site may use standard web technologies common to blogging platforms (such as Blogger/Google), which may include cookies for basic site functionality and, if enabled, aggregated visitor analytics (e.g., Google Analytics). We do not independently collect or sell personal information through this site. If you leave a comment, the information you include in that comment (and any associated public profile, depending on the platform) may be visible publicly, consistent with the hosting platform's own policies.

If this site ever includes an email newsletter signup, that signup is voluntary, and the email address provided is used solely to send you the content you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time via a link in each email.

5. E-Commerce / Direct Sales

Current status: Not applicable. We do not currently operate any direct sales channel, storefront, or checkout of our own, and we do not currently collect, process, or store any payment information or customer purchase data ourselves. All book and product sales take place exclusively through third-party retailers (such as Amazon/KDP), which handle all customer and payment information under their own privacy policies (see Section 3).

This section is included so the policy is already in place if that changes. If we begin offering direct sales through our own storefront in the future, this section will be updated before that launch to describe what's collected: typically name, shipping address, email address, and payment information, with payment itself handled by a third-party processor (such as Stripe, PayPal, or Shopify Payments) rather than stored on our own servers. Any such update will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.

6. Other Services, Content, and Activities

This section covers any current or future independent professional or side activity not specifically addressed above — including but not limited to consulting or advisory work, online courses or educational content, speaking engagements, affiliate or sponsored content, digital downloads, newsletters, and social media or video channels (e.g., YouTube). As with all sections of this policy, these activities are personal and independent of any clinical employer (see Section 1) and do not involve patient data or employer systems.

Across all such activities, the following general principles apply unless a more specific section is added to this policy:

  • We collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide the specific service you've requested or purchased (for example, an email address to deliver a course, or contact details to schedule a consultation).
  • We tell you what's being collected at the point of collection where practical (e.g., on a signup form).
  • We do not sell personal information to third parties.
  • Where a third-party platform is used to deliver a service or collect payment (e.g., a course hosting platform, a scheduling tool, or a platform store such as Amazon or Apple's App Store), that platform's own privacy policy also applies to the data and payment information it processes on our behalf. We do not receive or store your payment details in these cases.
  • Any new activity that involves materially different data handling than described here will result in this policy being updated, with the "Last Updated" date reflecting the change.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you. Since our apps store data exclusively on your device (Section 2), there is nothing for us to access or delete on our end for app usage — deleting the app deletes the data. For any data related to direct purchases, website interactions, or other services (Sections 4–6), you can contact us using the information below to make a request.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our products and services change. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes affecting how personal data is handled will be reflected here.
